Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Clasendro Technologies Private Limited (“Clasendro”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal data when you use the Clasendro mobile application and website at clasendro.com (together, the “Service”). Clasendro is a campus-management platform used by schools, their staff, and the parents of enrolled students.

Clasendro processes most personal data on behalf of the school that has engaged us. In relation to student and school records, the school is the Data Fiduciary and Clasendro acts as a Data Processor under its instructions. In relation to the accounts we create for you and our own operation of the Service, Clasendro is the Data Fiduciary. This policy is written to comply with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”).

1. Personal data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Account data — your mobile phone number (used to sign in via one-time passcode), name, role (parent, teacher, or administrator), and optionally your email address and profile photo.
  • School and student records — provided by the school and its staff: student name, class/section, admission number, date of birth, attendance, homework, examination marks and report cards, fee invoices and payment status, and leave records.
  • Content you submit — messages to parents, homework attachments, gallery and announcement photos, and similar material you upload.
  • Location data — precise device location is used only for the optional school-bus tracking feature: a driver’s device shares its live location during a trip so that parents can see the bus on a map. We do not track location in the background for any other purpose.
  • Device and technical data — push-notification token, device and operating-system information, and crash and diagnostic logs used to keep the app stable.
  • Payment data — when a school collects fees online, we store the invoice, amount, and payment status. Card, UPI, and bank details are entered directly with our payment processor and are not collected or stored by Clasendro.

2. Children’s data

Clasendro is designed for use by adults — parents, teachers, and school administrators. It is not directed to children and children do not create accounts. However, the Service processes personal data about students, who are typically minors, on behalf of the school. Schools are responsible for obtaining verifiable parental consent for the processing of a child’s personal data as required by the DPDP Act, and Clasendro processes such data only under the school’s instructions. We do not use children’s data for tracking, advertising, behavioural monitoring, or any purpose beyond delivering the Service to the school and the child’s parents. A parent or guardian may contact us or the school to access, correct, or request deletion of their child’s data.

3. How we use personal data

  • To create and secure your account and authenticate you by one-time passcode.
  • To provide the Service’s features — attendance, homework, exams, fees, leave, announcements, timetable, and bus tracking.
  • To send transactional messages you expect: sign-in codes, account-activation invitations, and notifications about your child or class.
  • To process fee payments through our payment processor.
  • To generate optional AI-assisted summaries and drafts (see “AI features” below).
  • To keep the Service secure, diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and comply with law.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

4. AI features

Some optional features use a third-party AI model (provided by Anthropic) to draft messages, summarise class trends, and answer questions. Where feasible we send aggregated or minimised information rather than raw personal data, and AI outputs are shown as drafts for a human to review. AI providers act as our processors and do not use your data to train their models.

5. When we share data, and with whom

We share personal data only as needed to run the Service, with processors bound by contract to protect it:

  • Supabase — cloud hosting, database, file storage, and authentication.
  • Twilio and MSG91 — delivery of SMS (sign-in codes and invitations).
  • Razorpay — payment processing for school fees.
  • Sentry — crash and error reporting.
  • Apple and Google — delivery of push notifications.
  • Anthropic — the AI model behind optional AI features.

We also share data with the school you belong to (and its authorised staff), and we may disclose data where required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users. If Clasendro is involved in a merger or acquisition, data may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

6. Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and the school uses the Service, and thereafter only as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When a school stops using Clasendro, or when data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access is restricted through row-level security so that each user and school can reach only their own data. We apply the safeguards reasonable for the sensitivity of the data, though no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. If a personal-data breach occurs, we will notify the Data Protection Board and affected persons as required by the DPDP Act.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you and request a summary of its processing.
  • Correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request erasure of your data and delete your account from within the app (Profile → Delete account).
  • Withdraw consent, and nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity.
  • Raise a grievance with us using the contact details below.

Because schools control student and school records, some requests about a student may be directed to, or require confirmation from, the relevant school.

9. Device permissions

The app asks for certain permissions, always with an explanation and only when needed: Location (bus tracking), Camera / Photos (attaching homework and photos), Notifications (alerts about your child or class), and Face ID / biometrics (optional app lock). You can change these at any time in your device settings; declining a permission only disables the related feature.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
